 Iceland                                      and                                Cape Horn

Two places I would like to see from the sea

My dream about sailing to Iceland in a small boat started when the boat was anchored at "Viborg Værft", and I had the possibility to use her whenever I wanted to.

I have never been a great lover of cold temperatures, but the idea of sailing to Iceland just wouldn't leave me - and now I am trying to turn the idea into reality

It is after all not the first time someone takes a "killer whale" out on a long journey. Together with an old friend of mine, Mads, I had planned to take a trip over the "pond" in a "killer whale", but someone beat us to it, and they had a nice trip. You can read about it at the killer whale club's home page http://www.spaekhugger.dk

As far as I know no one have sailed to Iceland (yet) with a "killer", the boat is not a big one for a trip like that, but I am absolutely convinced that the construction is strong enough. (The killer whale is a Danish boat, constructed by Peter Brun in 1970. 7,44 meter loa. -  2,33 meter boa. and goes 1,45 meter below surface). The lack of  comfort aboard might cause some problems, but that's life

Hopefully the trip will be an adventure, and if it turns out the way I expect it to it will qualify as a test trip for my ultimate trip: "The trip to and around Cape Horn".

A lot of you are probably thinking "That man is too far out", and you are probably right. But I think that if you have a dream you should follow it as far as possible. If not you will end up as a bitter old man with dreams that were never fulfilled or tried, and I don't want to end up in that situation

So I rather risk saying:

OK - I chewed off more than I could swallow, but at least I tried!!!!

But I hope to be able to say:

”My dream came true” !!!!!!

Cape Horn is far out and far down - so why not try.

Or, as someone that had sailed around Cape Horn once said:

”I did sail a bloody long way to be able to see this rock in the sea”
